Project Planner – North Devon Link Road

We are currently looking for a Project Planner to join our team on site on the A361 North Devon Link Road scheme based in Barnstaple.

The role will primarily cover the effective programme management of the A361 North Devon Link Road Project but will also assist in numerous highway infrastructure schemes across the Southwest England.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Project Manager for the schemes, you will be required to prepare and articulate competent plans for any scale of project that comply with Company and functional procedures and standards. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Development, maintenance and updating of Construction Programmes.
  • Monitor progress and resource levels against current programmes and amend accordingly. Reviewing activity outcomes for conformance with expectations and requirements.
  • Forecast the effects of variations and compensation events and impact delay analysis to assess their influence on current programmes.
  • Provide planning and programming advice to the site management team.
  • Identify alternative methods of undertaking work elements to reduce time and costs and mitigate material wastage.
  • Liaise and coordinate between construction, commercial and design teams to ensure timely and effective delivery of works information.
  • Develop as-built programmes from site records.
  • Assist in tender planning and providing timescales for construction works and their resource requirements and outputs.
  • Managing personally controlled project documentation in an orderly fashion.
  • Treating Health and Safety and environmental matters as primary drivers of approach.
  • Assimilating information and summarising in a manner understandable to others.
  • Contributing to the risk register and undertake programme risk analysis.
  • Encouraging and / or contributing method and output feedback.

The Ideal Candidate

As our ideal candidate you will posses:

  • Graduate and/ or chartered civil engineer or equivalent relevant experience
  • Substantial experience of a wide range of civil engineering, to Sub Agent level
  • Substantial experience and knowledge of NEC suite of contracts
  • A clear ability for logical thinking and working in an ordered fashion
  • Proficient and experienced user of Planning Software packages – MSP, P6, Asta
  • Competent user of Word and Excel
