We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join our friendly team Projects Team. This role is home based and will work predominately across London, Anglia and the Southeast. We are open to applications across this region. Role Responsibility

The Project Manager will lead and deliver highly strategic projects that are fundamental for operational production and business growth across Tarmac, these will include; not exhaustive - Cement, Aggregates & Asphalt, Readymix ‘RMX and Contracting. You will plan, create, manage and be instrumental in all project activities, you will have the ability to problem solve, innovate, and drive project performance to the highest levels. You will provide the leadership for the success or failure of these projects.

As the Project Manager must be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and be able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organisational skills. Your responsibilities will include (not exhaustive):

  • Have a proven track record of successful Project / Programme management, knowledge of operations and managing of multi-million-pound budgets
  • Maintaining Health and Safety rules and regulations working within a CDM environment for our colleagues and contractors
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of staff, optimising engagement, and overall team performance
  • Lead in resolving complex issues or failures as they arise, whether directly or by engaging with the project teams
  • Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases/gateways to ensure deadlines will be met
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports for presentation to Tarmac’s Exec Team
  • Work with the project team to obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Communication is key with colleagues, managers and contractors across the whole project to ensure all tasks are performed promptly, you must have the tact and diplomacy when dealing with tense situations that can arise at any moment during a building project's life cycle from start to finish

Key Stakeholders: Area Operations Managers - Finance – Contractors – Site Management - Supply Chain – Engineers – Technical – Operations – Human Resources – Project Team

You will hold a FULL UK manual car driving license with no more than 6 penalty points

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant in the role will be instrumental in the future development and support of our culture. You will have experience as a Project Manager within a Construction, Quarrying or similar Heavy Manufacturing / Engineering industry, this experience will be an essential requirement for this role.

Qualifications/Requirements/Capabilities:

  • ESSENTIAL - HNC/HND, or a Degree in a role related discipline would prove highly beneficial
  • ESSENTIAL – Extensive Project Management experience on multi-million-pound construction or heavy engineering projects
  • Challenge people, hold them accountable for job completion and quality of completion
  • Computer literate - familiarity with computer software - word, excel, etc and project management software
  • Good communication skills, with a positive, proactive can - do attitude to both colleagues and external agencies / contractors
