An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team on the forthcoming A40 Llanddewi Velfrey Project in the position of a Public Liaison Officer (PLO) based on site at the heart of the construction on a daily basis reporting to the Major Projects PLO Officer who understands the Client, Welsh Government. We are seeking an individual who is enthusiastic with good people management skills who is proactive and can make an immediate positive impact within the community. You will be the person with the soft skills to get the local community onboard and supportive of Alun Griffiths. The role will also be supported by the Construction Team and the Project Manager who will be the daily reporting manager.

The Ideal Candidate

Main Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Key point of contact for all public visitors
  • Point of contact for all correspondence required to be provided to Welsh Government
  • Liaising with all directly connected key stakeholders and attending stakeholder forums.
  • Providing regular drop-in sessions to keep residents, local business up to date.
  • Arranging and completing about three ‘Meet the Buyer’ events to engage with the local business’s and workforce
  • Keeping all direct stakeholders informed of upcoming works and proposals including traffic management and parking restrictions.
  • Producing project newsletters/bulletins and keeping all local residents informed of upcoming works.
  • Dealing with all enquiries and complaints from the public and direct stakeholders, producing and maintaining compliments/complaints register as required as a project commitment.
  • Attend client-facing meetings, collaborative planning workshops and report to client on progress
  • Updating project information boards, managing social media and website, and project information centres.
  • Updating and meeting with councillors, including liaising with local councils to coordinate key dates.
  • Liaising with landowner/land agents with regards land access
  • Updating and recording the land access schedule
  • Assistance with the site team in developing the accommodation schedule for all direct stakeholders.
  • Registering sites with the Considerate Constructors Scheme and managing requirements to achieve best practice and excelling scores.
  • Supporting community events and charities.
  • Liaising with schools, colleges and universities to raise the profile of our industry utilising our Sally Safe Steps and Bridges to School schemes and representing the company at careers fairs.
  • Involved with recruiting graduated and undergraduates through local colleges and universities
  • Setting up summer work experience placements
  • Targeting recruitment drives
  • Providing administration support to the team as required.
  • Assisting with the Community Benefits requirements of the scheme
  • Proactively looking for Community Benefits and providing case studies to get internal approval
  • An ability to work without direct day-to-day supervision, but equally must be able to be a team player able to work effectively with colleagues
  • Promoting Alun Griffiths and construction through community ideas and setting up ways to engage through local days and events on and off site
