Public Relations Apprentice - Community Engagement

Job Introduction

At Tarmac we are passionate about supporting communities through a wide range of activities and communications, from giving donations to important local causes to volunteering and hosting open days and events to meet and listen to our neighbours. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn while making a real difference. As a Public Relations Apprentice - Community Engagement, you'll be working with the Community Engagement Manager as part of our award-winning Communications and Corporate Affairs team, gaining valuable experience in communications, reputation management and social purpose.

Role Responsibility

Tasks may include:

•Monitoring, administration, measurement and reporting of donation requests and local community engagement plans

•Supporting with events and activities to continue and grow positive relationships in local communities around some of our most prestigious sites

•Drafting of social media posts, press releases, articles and online stories highlighting Tarmac's role in the community

This position is hybrid – with time in the office and at home, with the occasional need to travel to Tarmac sites to meet local teams to help support their community activities.

The Ideal Candidate

Our people come from a variety of different backgrounds and prior experience isn’t always necessary for success. This following transferable skills and qualifications are beneficial in this role:

Qualifications required:

  • Five GCSEs (or equivalent) A-C or numbered equivalent (9-4) including English and Maths, or level 3 qualification, including A levels, NVQ, BTEC, or Level 3 apprenticeship.

Skills:

  •  A keen interest in all things digital​.

  • Analytical with good attention to detail.
