We are currently looking for a Quality Supervisor to join our friendly team based in our Tallington site, Stamford, Lincolnshire. Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.

Role Responsibility

This is a varied, complex and rewarding position that requires working knowledge of HSE and IOSH Working Safely, customer focus, a willingness to learn and develop, operational experience. Additionally, IT skills, good attention to detail, communication skills and concrete technical knowledge would all be beneficial to the role.

Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, you will:

• Hosting Internal and External Audits for Certifications and Accreditation's to ISO9001, UKAS ISO 17025 and Kite Mark for Batching and Ultramobile Plant.
• Act as a Primary Contact for UKAS in the factory (Contact detailed on Schedule of Accreditation)
• Implementation and update of the Site UKAS Laboratory Management Manual and Test Procedures - ensuring copies are available and understood at the point of use 
• Documentation and implementation of Tallington specific processes.
• Ensuring that Laboratory activities are undertaken impartially and structured in a way that avoids any relationship or activity that threatens impartiality (independence of Lab from Production).
• Supervision of Laboratory activities, managing the key risks and internal controls.
• Daily liaison with JV Production on sampling schedule.
• Preparation of the daily sampling plan and internal testing requirements (covering all areas of site Nuspan and JV).
• Training of Lab Technician and any other JV staff on all test processes and use of equipment, organising external training as required.
• Assessing competence and skills gaps in all trainees - delivering and/or organising training to remedy any deficiencies found.
• Organising resources to meet the daily testing required throughput - may change day to day, dependent on trials, Thames Tideway requirements or any problems identified (troubleshooting).
• Analysis and Authorisation of Laboratory Test Result in line with procedures and British Standards.
• Raising Non-Conformance and abnormality reports when the requirement of any British Standard is compromised, then investigate and instigate actions to rectify the situation and prevent a recurrence.
• Preparation and overseeing the internal and external calibration schedule
• Contacting External contractors and agreeing on calibration schedules
• Review and sign off of calibration certificates as meeting internal and British Standard requirements 
• Ensuring Laboratory equipment and items are capable and suitable for continued use for the intended purpose
• Organise and act as a point of contact for inter-laboratory and intra-laboratory trials to meet UKAS requirements
• Act as Holiday and Absence cover for all concrete sampling and testing carried out by the Laboratory Technician 

The Ideal Candidate

As a successful candidate, you will ideally possess previous experience working as a Quality Supervisor or similar within a manufacturing environment.
However, we are willing to consider candidates with general Quality Control knowledge and higher A-level grades in Chemistry.

• A-Level chemistry - Desirable
• Be IT Literate
