RAP Manager - Midlands

We are currently recruiting for a RAP Manager to join our team based in Mountsorrel, Loughborough.

Role Responsibility

As the RAP Manager you will have worked in a similar industry and will have experience of working in this highly demanding environment. You as the RAP Manager will:

  • Ensure the safe and effective utilisation of haulage to recover planning’s for recycling into Asphalt. (Please be aware you will be required to work regular nightwork)
  • Identify opportunities to win planning’s work and contract negotiation and pricing, along with delivery of works to meet budgeted RAP demand
  • Agree the RAP Strategy with the Area Ops Managers, Commercial Manager and CI Manager, NRP Director
  • Produce a logistic plan to deliver planning’s meeting customer and Tarmac requirements


Other responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Assess and plan the resources required to deliver the planning’s recovery program successfully
  • Ensure all documentation has been correctly completed and SWMP are returned correctly as required
  • Manage and promote close communication with the Logistic and Distribution team to optimise the use of internal haulage
  • Ensure close communication with the Commercial team to ensure that SAP routines are followed and prices, quotes, jobs are all correctly implemented
  • Ensure close supervision of out of hours work and immediate action drills are in place to ensure that unplanned events are managed appropriately
  • Review supply and demand and adjust the RAP strategy as required
  • Report KPI’s and performance vs forecast and budget
  • Close communication with External and Internal Customers to ensure excellent relationships are maintained
  • You will work extremely closely with Unit Managers TAMs / Transport Manager, Distribution team & W/B clerks, link room, Commercial Teams, Pave Contract managers, Area Ops Managers, NRP Business Unit

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in the role of RAP Manager prior experience of working within industry sector is essentially preferred.


In the role of RAP Manager you will also have:


  • Safety awareness and competence to work on the UK road network
  • Excellent knowledge of Asphalt Surfacing and the Planning’s process
  • Strong Logistical knowledge to plan vehicle requirement and to support interaction with Hauliers & TAMs
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills to engage a wide variety of stakeholders at varying levels
  • Ability to overcome obstacles with flexibility and adaptability to manage conflicting demands
  • Determination to optimise performance with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Drive and ambition to succeed, with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good oral and written communication, alongside strong negotiation skills
  • Good IT skills specifically on spreadsheets, databases, and the ability to adapt to bespoke software packages
