Regional Engineering Manager

We are currently looking for a Regional Engineering Manager to join our team based in Bristol.

Role Responsibility

Purpose of Role

Provide best in class engineering and project management services to the operating business, innovate cost effective solutions in a consistent manner throughout the business. Manage projects from initial idea to provision of capital approval with end to end responsibility for delivery.

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Ensure that the business works towards zero harm and zero incidents by promoting and adhering to Tarmac HSE policies and legislative requirements
• Ensure an efficient and appropriate allocation of resources to projects from regional team, supplemented with external resource if required
• Ensure all projects are managed to deliver programme objectives on time and within budget (eg; RONA, OEE, SEC) in a safe and professional manner
• Ensure all projects are designed to achieve the lowest cost of ownership possible
• Identify opportunities for cost saving projects: develop and implement solutions
• Provide direction, leadership and coaching for team of regional project managers
• Drive implementation and ensure compliance with best practice engineering solutions
• Delivery and management of area action plans to help drive improved performance
• Ensure strategic initiatives are delivered in order to drive operational excellence
• Ensure all projects are fully compliant with Tarmac policy and appropriate standards and legislation
• Develop positive working relationships with key stakeholders: internally and externally
• Manage the statutory inspection requirements of the region
• Project management of M&A activities within the region and strategic projects
• Participates in the evaluation and feasibility process for potential projects
• Process map projects to determine timelines and accountabilities

The Ideal Candidate

• Strong project management skills
• Effective leadership skills with a proven ability to coaching and mentoring
• Proven record for implementing change within an operational environment through performance management and lean processes
• Understanding of construction materials business; including knowledge and application of products and processes
• Ability to influence across multi-functional teams
• People management, leadership and coaching skills
• Ensures accountability, develops talent and drives engagement
• IT literate
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and CAD designs
• Engineering degree or equivalent desirable
