Roadspace Planning Manager

We are recruiting for a Roadspace Planning Manager to join the Tarmac Joint Venture M25 Framework programme. You will work on this large infrastructure project to optimise the performance of ensuring that working with the wider team this project comes in both on time and within budget. This role is hybrid working and you will work within the London region.

Role Responsibility
As the Roadspace Planning Manager you will ensure the planning of the traffic management for the surfacing operations run safely, providing roadspace, programme and resource management for the M25 contract delivering first class customer service to our clients, drives efficiency improvements throughout the scheme and looks to maximise financial returns for Tarmac. You will plan, create, manage and be instrumental in supporting all activities, you will have the ability to problem solve, innovate, and drive performance to the highest levels.
You must be well-versed in all construction planning and procedures and be able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organisational skills. Your responsibilities will include (not exhaustive):
- Strong knowledge of Traffic Management and design drawings to identify the required roadspace bookings and programme of works
- Highly Experienced in the use of the NOMS System
- Have a proven track record of successful Planning management, knowledge of operations and support in the managing of multi-million-pound budgets
- Responsible for planning and delivering the operational project ‘road map’ and able to foresee issues and apply proactive problem solving techniques to overcome challenges, to remain on track to achieve key milestones / dates
- Provide management, guidance and direction to the Project Delivery Team and support the Framework Manager to ensure that all objectives, aims and targets are achieved
- Ensure that the team and business are fully compliant with all H&S, business policies, legal delivery requirements and procedures at all times for both our colleagues and contractors
- Lead, manage and develop the team, optimising engagement, and overall team performance
- Communication is key with colleagues, managers and contractors across the whole project to ensure all tasks are performed promptly, you must have the tact and diplomacy when dealing with tense situations that can arise at any moment during the project's life cycle
Key Stakeholders: Tarmac & JV Management Team - Area Operations Managers - Finance – Contractors – Site Management - Supply Chain – Engineers – Technical – Operations – Human Resources – Project Team – Contractors
You will hold a FULL UK manual car driving license with no more than 6 penalty points
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant in the role will be instrumental in the future development and support of our culture. You will have experience as a Roadspace Planning Manager with your experience coming from a Construction, Highways or Surfacing industry, this experience will be an essential requirement for this role; road as will highways traffic management knowledge for high speed roads.
Qualifications/Requirements/Capabilities:
- Desirable - HNC/HND, or a Degree in a role related discipline as this would prove highly beneficial in your success in the role
- Essential - Planning Management experience on multi-million-pound operational, Traffic Management, Surfacing, Construction, heavy engineering project/s
- Essential - Understanding of Roadspace Booking systems and permitting with working knowledge of Ch. 8 part1,2,3 – including the safe planning of Roadspace
- Challenge people, hold them accountable for job completion and quality of completion
- Computer literate - familiarity with computer software - word, excel, etc
- Good communication skills, with a positive, proactive can - do attitude to both colleagues and external agencies / contractors
