Sales Manager - 'Asphalt to Go'

We are currently recruiting for a Sales Manager – ‘Asphalt to Go’ to join and supportively work with our fantastic Asphalt team across the Midlands, this role is a mix of Hybrid working form home or from our many Asphalt sites across the region. 

This role is commutable from Loughborough, Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Grantham, Coventry, Royal Leamington Spa, Birmingham, Solihull, Nuneaton, Derby, Nottingham, Tamworth, Lichfield , Oxford, Banbury, Northampton and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

The Sales Manager – ‘Asphalt to Go’ is a key role in the commercial team with responsibility for ensuring delivery of sales of high margin revenue streams including Ulti range, Warm Mix and Collect Asphalt.  You will act as first point of contact for the Area Commercial Manager regarding commercial activity within specific geography.  The delivery against targeted sales volumes, price and profitability from designated external A & A Accounts are fundamentals of the role of Sales Manager – ‘Asphalt to Go’.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities of the Sales Manager – ‘Asphalt to Go’, not exhaustive:

  • Work with your commercial colleagues to develop Tarmac’s relationship with targeted Local Authorities and key external contractors to increase sales of high margin VAP & Collect products
  • Targeted VAP promotion and achieve required Customer Account target
  • Implement Account Portfolio strategy
  • Deliver the Financial targets and Value-Added Product targets as set by the Business Unit and Regional management
  • Support Major Project Managers in delivery of Regional major/significant bid and tender process
  • Ensure customer portfolio satisfaction measures are constantly exceeded with a particular emphasis on management of accounts
  • Complete account plans to the continual Tarmac high standard and clearly identify customer development objectives defined to support the senior management team in improving OTIFIC [on time in full invoiced correctly] performance
  • Working with commercial, technical, and operational colleagues to devise and deliver the regional Asphalt 2 Go strategy
  • Manging and ensuring that all commercial target requirements are achieved through an approach aligned to Commercial Excellence expectations and requirements
  • Relationship Management - Building and maintaining relationships with the Distribution Team, Operational Team & Sales Team (Internal & External), customers and colleagues

Key Stakeholders you will liaise with in the responsibilities of this role:

Commercial Director - Regional Commercial teams - Regional and National Technical teams - Regional Operational teams - Centres of Excellence - Key Customers - Industry Bodies

This role comes with a Car and is a Hybrid working position

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role the ideal candidate for the position of Sales Manager – ‘Asphalt to Go’ you will have experience and knowledge of:

ESSENTIAL Experience

  • Commercial and Solution Sales
  • Previous sales experience in an Asphalt, Aggregate, RMX, Concrete or Heavy Materials environment – would prove highly beneficial in this role
  • Working knowledge of production processes – although not essential
  • Strong computer skills - experience with SAP, Excel and/or similar platforms would be highly advantageous


  • Customer relationship building and management
  • Influencing external and internal stakeholders
  • Presentation and communication skills
