Security Officer

We are currently looking for a Security Officer to join our Tunstead Quarry close to Buxton in Derbyshire.  This role is easily commutable from Buxton, Sheffield, Stockport, Chesterfield, Macclesfield and Mansfield.

Reporting directly to Site Services Manager.  The Security Officer will work on the day-to-day Security for our site, you will work with the team to ensure the site is able to run and is secure for all colleagues and visitors. This is a shift role.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to Site Services Manager.  The Security Officer will work on the day-to-day Security for our site, you will work with the team to ensure the site is able to run and is secure for all colleagues and visitors. This is a shift role.

Your responsibilities as the Security Officer will include (not exhaustive):

• Provide support, guidance and information to all colleagues, staff, visitors and contractors whilst ensuring safeguarding of the premises, along with giving an exceptional customer service experience
• Conduct external and internal security patrols around the site to address any security concerns
• Responding to alarms
• Dealing with anti-social behaviour or criminal activity in a polite but firm manner, informing the relevant authorities whenever necessary
• Ensuring all entry points are secure, prevent and deter unauthorised access to the site
• Stopping suspicious activities, checking identification etc.
• Controlling traffic and people movement, and entry/exit of people to the site
• Reporting any unusual activity, sounding alarms and seeking help from the authorities when necessary
• Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms. surveillance equipment and CCTV as appropriate
• Provide traffic control and apply parking restrictions as required
• Carry out routine tests of security equipment where appropriate
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times
• Ensure all paperwork is completed in a timely fashion and conduct effective handover procedures

The role of Security Officer is a shift role so you will be required to work a set shift pattern which is 12 hour shifts - 4 days - 4 off - 4 nights – 4 off repeated 7 times followed by 14 day long break; with overtime available to meet with the site needs.

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in the role of a Security Officer the following is what we are looking for in a future colleague:

• Previous experience in a security role or similar, along with SIA badge holder - essentially preferred
• IT knowledge as the role will require you to use our IT systems
• Focused on Customer Service
• Organised and excellent at timekeeping
• Full UK driving licence
• Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal, and a strong customer focus
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team
• The ability to make good judgment and come to sensible conclusions
• Able to negotiate and deal with sensitive and confidential matters with tact and discretion
