Senior Project Engineer

Job Introduction

Tarmac has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer within the Maintenance Department based at Dunbar Cement Plant. The successful applicant will be instrumental in the future development and support of the reliability culture to achieve the benefits available through continuous improvement strategy. This role is responsible for specifying and coordinating the implementation of strategic and complex projects for the Cement Plant, including development, sustainability and CAPEX. You will be expected to carry out some development work and improvement projects including safety and environmental issues. This role is ideally suited to an existing Engineer with proven supervisory experience.

Role Responsibility

Working in close coordination with the plant operations teams and contractors to ensure the successful planning and implementation of projects to optimise plant efficiency and productivity.

In addition you will proactively manage the S&H performance and behaviours of the team and contractors to continuously improve practices and standards. You will also ensure that Risk Assessments, STOP assessments and PTW isolations are fully utilised and adhered to at all times. Support and promote housekeeping.

You will be comfortable contributing to and reviewing the project proposal or plan to determine time frame, identifying limitations, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements and allocation of available resources to various phases of each project, including CAPEX applications and be able to support the Maintenance department as and when required. This opportunity may require you to step into an operational role if required.

Your previous experience as a project manager in project execution from preparing the feasibility study to implementation will help to achieve success in this role.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be reliable /independent and flexible with a proven ability to work and lead a team. A good aptitude for field work, and motivation to be involved in the maintenance tasks

required and drive improvements would be advantageous.  You should also have proven mechanical maintenance experience in cement or other related process heavy industry. Supervisory experience is desirable as is an understanding of a Manufacturing Maintenance Management System (SAP PM)
