Service Manager - Mersey Gateway

We are currently looking for a Service Manager to join our friendly team based in Runcorn to work on the Mersey Gateway Project.

Tarmac has a strong presence within the North West of the UK , delivering a number of key well established Highways Term Maintenance contracts both within the Local Authority and Private Sectors. 

As part of our ongoing strategy to deliver high quality services to our Clients and grow our maintenance business , 2 key positions have become available to lead on the delivery of contracts within our current portfolio and also contribute to securing further opportunities in the North West region and beyond.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the General Manager - Highway Services, a Service Manager has direct responsibility for the contract, leading a team to ensure that the contract is delivered safely to the satisfaction and performance expectations of the Client and to budget within an environmentally friendly manner.   They will also be responsible for the following: 

  • Lead and ensure delivery of the Contract   

  • Delivery of Contract Budget(s)  

  • Drive the effective management of any exposure to both financial and contractual risk, maximising financial return on all contracts and ensuring prompt cash collection within contract provisions.  

  • Develop & maintain key client relationships.  

  • Work closely with internal and external supply chain to ensure requirements of contract specification are delivered   

  • To drive performance improvements within your Area of responsibility and share best practice across the business  

  • Effective management, coaching and development of all direct reports and drive full employee engagement  

  • To ensure policies and procedures including health and safety requirements are fully compliant with legislation, and changes are effectively communicated  

  • Drive performance improvement in relation to zero tolerance towards accidents, instilling a culture of health and safety best practice by setting a personal example.   

 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be experienced in leading the delivery of a Highways Maintenance contract and be familiar with contractual mechanisms.

A relevant industry qualification to degree level would also be advantageous

You should; be largely qualified by experience relating to industry standards and/or possess good Higher Education Achievement (HND/HNC Level) or Degree.

As well as possess the following skills/knowledge;

  • Product / Service Technical Knowledge
  • Health & Safety NEBOSH or IOSH Certified
  • IT Literate Word Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Google Chrome 
  • Operational technical Knowledge
  • Financial Management Systems
  • Company Procedures & QA Requirements
  • Proven Management experience
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills
