Site Engineer

We are currently looking for an experienced Site Engineer to join our team based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.  This role is easily commutable from places such as Leighton Buzzard, Luton, Watford, Oxford, Milton Keynes, St Albans, High Wycombe, and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

The Site Engineer will report to the Site Agent and work with the Works Manager and Foreman to ensure that dimensional control and QA processes are undertaken in a timely manner to meet the Project Programme.  Your role as the Site Engineer will include (not exhaustive):

  • Setting out the work including engaging with other staff members, client, designers and the workforce to communicate the project technical details, standards and specification requirements.
  • Promote and lead the site safety culture.  Ensure that all works are carried out in a planned, controlled, and safe manner, in accordance with statutory regulations, current standards, and the Company SHEQ standards
  • Review Site Operations with Section Agents to ensure that any works being undertaken outside of the Contract Requirements are raised, including those verbally instructed by Employer or Others
  • Monitor delivery of the project, identifying risk and opportunities to optimise project delivery, reporting key risks/opportunities to the Section Agent
  • Ensure required Setting Out is undertaken in timely manner using the latest Design Information to enable operations to progress effectively and provide material quantity requirements to Works Manager/Section Agent to enable timely delivery of required materials
  • Carry out processes to manage the safe construction of the works such as permitting procedures
  • Review Inspection and Test Plans with the Section Agent and ensure the required inspections and testing is undertaken and documented in the relevant file in accordance with the Project Management Plan
  • Continual updating of as-built drawings on site and maintain measurement records to be submitted to Section Agent on Weekly Basis
  • Review all relevant design information and raise Technical Queries where required
  • Ensure all Survey/Testing Equipment has a current calibration certificate and maintain the Equipment Register for all Survey, Testing and Inspection equipment
  • You will have experience of up-to-date techniques of setting out and understanding and interpreting technical construction details on construction projects.

A car is included with this position, so you will not have more than 6 points on a full UK car driving licence

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in the role of a Site Engineer the following is what we are looking for in a future colleague:

  • Strong leadership and motivational skills with a high level of Commercial acumen
  • Good negotiation skills with Customer focus and the ability to build relationships
  • An ability to plan and organise works safely and efficiently with a passion for keeping people safe
  • Excellent managerial and organisation ability with an enthusiasm for team working and collaboration
  • A good understanding of current methods and up to date knowledge of specifications and contract principles
  • A working knowledge of NEC contracts and other common forms

Education/Certification Requirements:

  • Educated to Degree or HND/HNC in a role related discipline - Civil Engineering or similar
  • CSCS Gold Card qualification
  • Proven experience in Civil Engineering Contracting, preferably Highways, concrete structures, Earthworks and Drainage
  • Ideally SSSTS, SMSTS/IOSH (Safety Related Qualifications)
  • Temporary Works Co-ordinator, confined spaces or other role related qualifications will be advantageous
  • Planning Software, AutoCAD, BIM training would be advantageous.
  • Outstanding communication, leadership, collaboration and influencing skills

Experience of working as a Site Engineer is essential for this role due to the nature of the work.
