Skilled Surfacing Operative

We are currently looking for a Skilled Surfacing Operative to join our team based in Birtley covering the North East of England for Tarmac.  We’re working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.

Role Responsibility

This is a varied, complex and rewarding position that requires experience in road surfacing along with the requisite mobile plant competency cards such as for heavy rollers & JCB 2 CX.

As the successful candidate you will report directly to the Foreman and will work as part of an Asphalt machine lay gang on a variety of schemes such as motorways & airfields to new build carriageways, standard Local Authority street works as well as private, industrial & commercial works.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate previous experience working as a Skilled Surfacing Operative within a Civil engineering, Construction or similar environment.  As well as possess good communication skills and have a real desire in developing both operative and supervisory skills. 
You will also need to be flexible to work varying shifts which could include nights and weekends.

Specific Requirements;

  • Competency cards such as for heavy rollers & JCB 2 CX.
