We're looking to recruit 2 Technical Higher Apprentices commencing in September 2021 to work within our HS2 technical team at sites around but not limited to Kenilworth, Meriden and Coleshill in Birmingham.

This is an exciting opportunity to start a career on the biggest engineering project in Europe. The position will train you in all aspects of concrete technology and in particular site and laboratory testing to ensure quality and compliance for the project. The role will be field based with some laboratory testing also required. In addition you will gain a University Certificate in Concrete Technology alongside the particle hands on role that will enhance your skills and learning

Role Responsibility

In this role you will be involved in several tasks within the Tarmac technical team working on the HS2 project:

· Carrying out product sampling, equipment calibration and testing in line with procedures and British Standards on site and within the laboratory.

· Reporting relevant Key Performance Indicators

· Completing documentation and ensuring it is filed correctly as well as inputting test results into the appropriate system

· Advising management and/or supervisors when quality standards are at risk of being compromised and instigating corrective action to rectify or prevent any non-compliance

· Complying with company safety policy and promoting a high standard of safety awareness

· Promoting Tarmac and acting as a representative when with customers or stakeholders

· Delivering compliance with pre-agreed standards and QA procedures as measured in internal and external audits

· Completing your training which will consist of a University Certificate in Concrete Technology through Derby University

The Ideal Candidate

You are expected to achieve or hold a minimum of five GCSE passes at Grade 4 or above, three of which must be Maths, English and a Science. You should be an enthusiastic team member with a natural interest in the technical arena. Excellent communication skills with the ability to use your own initiative and have a drive to succeed are all essential skills you will need demonstrate too.
