We are currently looking for a Technician (Ready Mixed Concrete) to join our friendly team based at our Tarmac Liverpool Brasenose Road Concrete Plant in Liverpool, Bootle. The role of Technician is working as part of our Ready Mix team that supports operations at Liverpool Brasenose Road as well as other Tarmac Ready Mix plants in Merseyside and Lancashire. This role is easily accessible if you live in Bootle, Seaforth, Wallasey, Birkenhead, West Kirby, Garston, Kirkby, Formby, Maghull, Ellesmere Port, Widnes, Haydock, Saint Helens, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Runcorn and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Senior Technician the role of Technician (Ready Mixed Concrete) will be responsible for sampling and testing of various Ready Mixed Concrete Products from Tarmac’s Supplying concrete plants. The role of Technician (Ready Mixed Concrete) will also be responsible for:

• Ensuring sampling procedures are fully adhered to, understood and documented to comply with the relevant British Standard.
• Informing the Senior Technician when quality standards are being compromised and take appropriate action to rectify quality issues
• Helping investigate and resolve complaints and queries
• At times, visiting other Tarmac sites to carry out various sampling and testing duties
• Sampling and testing will be carried out to the highest safety standards and within your manual handling capabilities
• Ensuring the quality of the materials is monitored at all times for both internal and external customers
• Adhering to company Health and Safety procedures at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Technician (Ready Mixed Concrete) will have prior experience gained working within a concrete sampling environment, within the construction sector. You will also possess knowledge of ready mixed concrete testing and production.

This is NOT a typical ‘lab coat’ laboratory type of role – this is actually a vital hands-on site-based role, working in a small team closely supporting several of our operational Ready Mixed Concrete plants.

Suitable candidates for the role of Technician (Ready Mixed Concrete) will be:

• Hard working and self-motivated
• Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and to liaise with stakeholders of varying seniority levels
• Accurate in their work and with strong attention to detail/able to identify potential risks/issues (training will be provided)
• Able to work independently and to collaborate as part of a wider team across several Tarmac sites in the area
• IT literate
• Possess a good numerical aptitude (handling calculations/interpreting results)
• Flexible in their working approach
• Health and Safety conscious
