Are you looking to build a long-term career in a commercial environment within the construction industry? Our Commercial Trainee – Contracting programme provides the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience, professional qualifications, and exposure to a dynamic commercial team.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Commercial Trainee, you’ll support our commercial contracting teams while developing key professional skills. You will:

• Complete a Level 4 commercial qualification through a structured apprenticeship
• Learn how to price and generate customer quotations using internal systems
• Support in converting quotations into contracts
• Build strong customer relationships and resolve queries professionally
• Gain a broad understanding of Tarmac’s products and services
• Work collaboratively across commercial and quantity surveying teams
• Take part in role rotations to build wider business knowledge
• Represent Tarmac in customer interactions and industry events
• Contribute to team targets and customer service excellence

What We’re Looking For

We welcome people from all backgrounds—no prior experience is required. 

Desirable:

• A strong willingness to learn and develop new skills
• Good communication and relationship-building abilities
• Confidence working with a range of stakeholders
• Strong IT and literacy skills
• A proactive mindset with problem-solving ability
• A positive, team-focused approach

Essential:

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above preferred)
• A desire to continue learning and develop through further qualifications
