Trainee Credit Controller

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Trainee Credit Controller to join our Credit & Collections team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long‑term career in credit control and collections, with structured development and hands‑on training.

You will support the effective management of customer accounts, ensuring cash is collected within agreed terms and credit limits. You will help the team deliver monthly cash targets and maintain strong working relationships across the business.

As part of your development, CICM Level 2 studies will be mandatory and fully supported, giving you essential knowledge and confidence as you grow within the credit and collections discipline.

What You’ll Be Doing

With full training and ongoing support, you will take responsibility for the following (not exhaustive):

  • Owning and managing a ledger of specific accounts; ensuring they are operated within agreed credit parameters, payment terms and credit limit
  • Delivering to agreed monthly cash and aged debt targets and KPI’s
  • Ensuring proactive telephone collections chasing ahead of invoice and application for payment due date
  • Being the first point of contact resolution on any customer queries and disputes wherever possible
  • Contributing to a culture of continuous process improvement
  • Ensuring compliance with all policy and process controls
  • Providing excellent customer service whilst maximising cash-in for the business

This is a permanent position with real progression opportunities within Credit & Collections.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Keen to start a career in credit control and collections
  • A strong team player with a positive, proactive approach
  • Customer focused with confident communication skills
  • Results driven and motivated by targets and deadlines
  • Well organised with strong attention to detail
  • Able to accurately log and track issues

Previous Credit Control experience is not essential — an interest in finance or collections is beneficial.
 Commitment to completing CICM Level 2 is essential.
