Trainee Rail Planner

We are currently looking for an Trainee Rail Planner to join our friendly team based at the Mountsorrel site in Quorn, Leicestershire

Role Responsibility

In order to maximise the use of resources and efficiency of the weekly train plans, we require  two National Rail Planners to put together the train plans on a weekly basis.

Working on a hybrid basis, the role will be more office based to start then be more office based as time progresses.

This role is crucial in liaising across the business & ensuring that the weekly order fulfils the requirements of the internal customers, minimises Tarmac cost to supply and is deliverable for the rail suppliers.

On a day to day basis, the successful candidates will be carrying out a variety of tasks. This can include Train Planning in the context of formulating draft train plans which are signed off by Rail Operations Managers and liaising with railheads as to the number of trains required & product orders.

You will also be undertaking tasks such as monitoring live train performances, monitoring the availability of wagons and publishing the agreed train plans.

Furthermore, you will be expected to produce KPI data and when required, to report on any inefficiencies on both Tarmac and the Freight Operator.

The Ideal Candidate

No specific qualifications are necessary for this role. Tarmac are looking to hear from candidates who can show a high attention to detail and ideally have prior supply chain knowledge & experience.

Furthermore, having SAP experience is not essential, but would be of benefit.
