Trainee Sales Representative

Job Introduction

A typical day working as a Trainee Sales Representative at Tarmac will see you working as part of our Commercial team, helping to provide the best experience for our customers and smash our sales targets! You’ll work with our internal and external sales teams to learn the ropes, building your commercial acumen and understanding of our industry and most importantly, great relationships with our customers!

Role Responsibility

Activities may include: ​

  • Using IT systems to raise and price quotations for customers​.

  • Following up with customers to convert quotations and enquiries to orders.  ​

  • Helping to solve customer issues quickly and effectively​.

  • Develop an understanding of our product and sales offering​.

  • Assisting in regularly reviewing customer accounts to help generate sales opportunities .​

  • Working collaboratively with the Team to provide high levels of customer service.​

  • Representing the business at customer meetings and trade events​.

  • Taking pride in all work completed and being determined to succeed​!​​

While learning in your day-to-day role, you will complete a Level 4 Sales Executive qualification, giving you a good grounding to start an exciting career in our industry. Further details of the qualification can be found here:

You’ll also get to take part in our core Skills Development Programme designed to expand your business knowledge, strengthen core skills and offer networking opportunities with other graduates and key stakeholders across the Tarmac business in order to successfully transition into your destination role​.​

The Ideal Candidate

Our people come from a variety of different backgrounds. The following transferable skills and qualifications are beneficial in this role:

Required qualifications:

  • Five GCSEs (or equivalent) A-C or numbered equivalent (9-4) including English and Maths, or level 3 qualification, including A levels, NVQ, BTEC, or Level 3 apprenticeship.

  • Self-motivated.​

  • Effective communication skills.​

  • Willing to learn and develop​.
