Training Manager (Maternity Cover)

We are currently recruiting an experienced Training Manager (fixed term) to join our award-winning learning & development team supporting the Tarmac businesses in the South West and Wales and South East regions. This hybrid working role ensures that all employees can demonstrate their competence and excel in their roles and is a fixed term contract for 12 months covering maternity leave. Frequent travel to the sites within the regions is expected so whether you live in Bristol, Cambridge, Colchester, Maidstone, Reading, St Albans, Watford, or the surrounding areas then this could be the role for you!

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Head of Learning and Development this Training Manager role is an opportunity to partner with some key business stakeholders across multiple sites as well as working alongside other members of the Learning and Development and HR teams within Tarmac.

The role of Training Manager will also be responsible for:

  • Ensuring employees have the appropriate qualifications, and/or mobile plant licences for their roles ensuring that the delivery and progress is monitored and complies with any associated procedures and/or policies
  • Promoting development through apprenticeships, recognising those that are eligible
  • Monitoring the progress of delegates enrolled onto Tarmac’s apprenticeship programmes, carrying out regular reviews, supporting delivery where required
  • Collating training and development needs working closely with business stakeholders and then, with the wider Learning and Development team, identify the best development solutions
  • Supporting wider Learning and Development and Talent teams with facilitation and training to meet business needs when required
  • Ensuring all data is validated before inputting into the training management system
  • Managing and engaging with key stakeholders to support the training KPI’s within their area of responsibility

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Training Manager will possess in depth training experience gained within a Learning and Development function managing stakeholder expectations ideally within a multiple site environment.

The suitable candidates for the role of Training Manager will have:

  • Ability to influence and persuade managers and other stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Dynamic attitude 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Confidence in people management, coaching and development of staff
  • Ability to achieve goals against tight deadlines
  • Flexible and adaptable approach
  • Experience delivering training and facilitating others
  • Learning and Development qualification L3 (advantageous)
  • IOSH Managing Safely (advantageous)
  • PTLLS or equivalent (advantageous)

This is a mobile role and comes with a company car so full UK driving licence with less the 6 driving points is required.
