Vocational Assessor (Nationwide)

Tarmac are currently recruiting a Vocational Assessor to join our Learning and Development team to identify and manage the delivery of the assessment process of operational employees nationwide. This is a mobile, hybrid role so you will travel across our operating locations throughout the UK.
This is a national role so whether you’re based in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne, Birmingham, Nottingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Oxford or London this role could suit you. If you have strong coordinator skills, you’re keen to develop as a successful Assessor and you have the willingness, aptitude, and capability to make a positive impact on our Operations teams then this could be the role for you!

Role Responsibility
Reporting to the Lead Assessor, the role of Vocational Assessor is responsible for coordinating and planning the operational training and assessment requirements across our various regions through building strong relationships with managers to ensure buy-in and commitment to the training programme.
The role of Vocational Assessor will also be responsible for:
- Communicating and coordinate with operations teams to ensure competency, skills and knowledge are maintained across all product lines
- Supporting the delivery of our Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality strategy by ensuring that all operational employees have the competent skills required for their job role
- Delivering fixed, mobile plant, HSE assessments when required and carry out competence assessments
- Delivery of a variety of classroom based and internal training
- Acting as a subject matter expert in one of the following areas on a national basis, e.g. SHE NVQs, Maintenance, Mobile Plant, TBP
- Ensuring all qualifications meet the Tarmac Assessment Centre and the Internal Verification processes and standards
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of Vocational Assessor will preferably have experience working as an Assessor or alternatively you may perhaps be a Supervisor within the quarrying / extractives sector or heavy industry sector who is passionate about Health and Safety and is keen to move into an Assessor role. Ideally suitable candidates will have knowledge of mobile and / or static plant and possess experience managing operational activities within a manufacturing environment.
Suitable candidates for the role of Vocational Assessor will also possess:
- Ability to influence and successfully work with managers to ensure competency of staff
- Proven attention to detail
- Ability to drive results and deliver goals against tight deadlines
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel) and e-portfolio’s (will train)
- Able to work as a team but also independently
- Well organised and able to successfully plan own work
- IOSH qualification essential and NEBOSH qualification (advantageous)
- Assessing Vocational Achievement - L3 (advantageous)
This is a mobile role involving nationwide travel. A company car is provided so a full UK driving licence is essential.
