Works Manager - based in Treforest or Aberdare

We're now recruiting a railway Works Manager for Transformation of the Core Valley Lines who will be responsible for the safe execution of projects from construction phase mobilisation to hand back, in accordance with company policies, procedures and Railway Standards. You can be based in either Treforest or Aberdare and you'll also be responsible for the timely and commercially advantageous delivery of assigned projects.

Role Responsibility

On a day to day basis, the Site Agent's duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Leading the site team in the planning and delivery of each project.
  • Health and safety leadership to the assigned operational delivery site team
  • Ensuring that site management team rigorously adhere to Network Rail's Life Saving Rules  
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant HSE legislation and NR Standards
  • Promoting and implementing sustainable business objectives
  • Achieving gross site margin target on allocated schemes as directed by the contracts manager       
  • Compliance with all relevant NR Standards, AGC Procedures and HSE guidance            
  • Ensuring sufficient and competent resource is in place for the delivery of the project and ensuring the project objectives are communicated to the site team
  • Developing and maintaining a construction programme and ensuring works are communicated and delivered against milestones.
  • Identifying, managing and controlling associated programme risks and communicating this as required
  • Promoting and maintaining effective client and stakeholder relationships to protect and enhance the company’s reputation to support repeat business
  • Upholding the core company values, inspiring and encouraging the same throughout the team
     

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, it is likely you will have a relevant experience along with proven leadership skills.  It is likely you've been in your current role for a number of years and as a result built up a significant skill set and developed some great construction experience that you are now ready to apply in a new challenge.   

In addition, have CITB SMSTS certification. You many also be qualified to NVQ Level 6 – Construction Site Management and have full first aid at work certification. Ideally you'll also be CPCS Plant Certification and be an A61 – Appointed Person.   

You will also be in possession of an SMSTS and have a relevant CSCS card.  

You will be able to demonstrate a strong pedigree in management and delivery of previous rail civils projects, with preferred experience in stations, bridges, retaining walls and other related enabling works.
