We have a fantastic opportunity for a Works Manager to join our Rail Team. Initially based on the Barmouth Timber & Metallic Viaduct Project, Gwynedd. We are looking for an experienced Works Manager looking to take the next career step. We are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of backgrounds

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Project Manager your key responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Providing Health and safety leadership to your operational delivery teams and promote behavioural safety improvements
  • Ensuring that site teams rigorously adhere to Network Rail's Life Saving Rules
  • Ensuring that the General Foremen or other site supervisors are organised and wellmotivated to safely meet the programme milestones
  • Supporting the General Foremen to work safely in accordance with assessed construction risks and adherence with the control measures defined in Work Package Plans and Task Briefs
  • Managing the General Foreman, Foreman, Site Supervisors and other assigned resources.
  • Manage and develop team members individual performance, identify strengths and development needs to contribute to the succession planning of the business
  • Providing necessary support to enable the project environmental risks, objectives and targets are met
  • Promoting and maintaining effective client and stakeholder relationships to protect and enhance the company’s reputation to enable repeat business
  • Upholding the core company values, inspiring and encouraging the same throughout the team
  • Supporting the Project Manager in defining the efficient and effective planning of the works (methodology) and plant and labour resources

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following skills:

  • Passion for keeping people safe and improving themselves, cultures and individuals
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and IT skills
  • Ideally have around 5+ years’ experience in a similar role, but any other relevant experience may also be taken into consideration
  • High level commercial acumen

Education/Certification Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 6 – Construction Site Management
  • PTS & relevant CSCS Car
