Yard Manager

We are currently looking for an experienced Yard Manager to join our friendly team at Linford plant in Stanford-le-Hope.

Role Responsibility

As the successful candidate for the role of Yard Manager, you will report directly to the Senior Site Manager and be responsible for leading a team of Yard, Weigh Bridge & Raw Material operators.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Effectively coach and performance manage all direct reports, embedding core behavioural competencies (the STAR Framework) and a culture aligned to the Tarmac Way
  • Actively participating in site operational tasks, leading by example.

  • Manage trucking fleet across site (FLT’s HGV’s & other)

  • Role modelling an exemplary approach to Health and Safety, contributing proactively to a safe working environment and working collaboratively to build a culture of continuous improvement

  • Weekly Yard planning with production

  •   Special site related project work

  • Working as a team to ensure a quality product is loaded for the client to achieve targeted volumes

  • General housekeeping ensuring that the highest standards are maintained in accordance with What Good Looks Like (WGLL) and the CRH Lifesaving rules – delivering toolbox talks

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Yard Manager will be able to demonstrate previous experience working within a large Industrial, Factory or a similar envrionment. As well as possess good communication skills and have a real desire in developing both operational and supervisory skills.

Specific Requirements: 

  • Working knowledge of HSE / IOSH Managing Safely
  • Previous Yard Team Leading experience
  • Basic SAP user knowledge (advantageous)
  • Understanding of aggregate industry
  • Experience with unionised workforce
  • Licences (mobile plant advantageous)
  • PC literate (MS Outlook, MS Excel & word)
