At Tarmac our Finance function plays a key role in running our business and we are currently recruiting for an Higher Apprentice Data Analyst to join our team based primarily from our Solihull Tarmac Hub Offices close to Birmingham Airport in the West Midlands

The role is easily commutable from Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Sutton Coldfield, Nuneaton, Tamworth, Hinkley, Redditch, Bromsgrove, Coleshill, Water Orton, Tyseley, Bournville, Royal Leamington Spa, Kenilworth, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Dudley, West Bromwich and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

In our business data is key to driving performance. We are looking for analytical people who can simplify complex concepts, to come on board as key members of our national performance and finance teams, supporting the wider business on all things data and trend related! 

A typical day working as an Apprentice Data Analyst may include:

• Engaging with business teams to understand data needs, requirements, specifications, and objectives.
• Pulling together data from all different areas of our business and interpreting what this means, collaborating with the wider teams to provide insights that drive performance
• Analysing patterns and trends within data and using it to ‘tell a story’
• Designing reports that can be used during business reviews
• Taking pride in all work completed and being determined to succeed!

While learning in your day-to-day role, you will complete our Professional Development Programme, giving you a good grounding to start an exciting career in our industry.

Please note your studies will be completed online, rather than face to face learning.

• Your line manager and mentor will give you help and guidance throughout your apprenticeship programme
• Your Finance Department colleagues, who most of your daily interactions will be with will provide support and knowledge

Internal Training:​

• Core Skills- Whilst you’re learning on the job, you’ll attend our Core Skills Development Programme designed to expand your business knowledge, strengthen core skills and offer networking opportunities with other graduates, higher apprentices and key stakeholders across the Tarmac business in order to successfully transition into your destination role
• The training will be both compulsory on site; and virtual learning for this Apprenticeship

The Ideal Candidate

Our people come from a variety of different backgrounds and prior experience isn’t always necessary for success.

Educational Qualifications required for the role of Higher Apprentice Data Analyst:

• Minimum five GCSEs (or equivalent) A-C or numbered equivalent (9-4) including English and Maths
• Level 3 qualifications, including A levels, NVQ, BTEC, or Level 3 apprenticeship. 
• Please note that this is an apprenticeship position and therefore if you holds a degree or Master’s degree in a subjects such as Data Science or Business Analytics you not be eligible. 

Desirable Skills:

• Analytical and data-driven​ mindset. 
• Preferably knowledge around Python or R and databases.
• Good team layer​. 
• Willing to learn attention to detail​. 
• Microsoft Excel skills​. 
• A team and develop​. 
• Communication skills, communicates clearly and confidently​.
