Finance Analyst - Materials

We are currently looking for a Finance Analyst – Materials to join our friendly team based in Solihull, West Midlands.

The successful candidate will support the Senior Finance Manager National to provide management information, consolidation and reporting from the 4 regional businesses and support the delivery of the strategy. You’ll also support forecasting future revenue and expenditure to help determine budgets for upcoming projects. As the Finance Analyst you’ll also be involved in researching and reporting on financial information, as well as monitoring financial movements and trends. Working in a team, you will analyse and interrogate financial data to provide customised support, in support of short and long-term decision-making and problem-solving. The role also supports the preparation of outlooks, budgets and business plans. You’ll be expected to produce regular reports using financial data and will work collaboratively across the entire finance team to analyse business performance and strategy relating specifically to the Materials business unit.

Role Responsibility

  • Supports the preparation of annual budgets, rolling monthly business forecasts and quarterly formal outlooks for review
  • Provide issues-based financial/business information to the Senior National Manager which includes tactical and strategic issues around volumes, pricing, costs and profitability
  • Analyse past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements
  • Prepare and support the publication of standard materials reporting, including SVP Packs as part of the monthly cycle
  • Support and proactively drive analysis and insight based on experience of issues, underlying performance, and strategic objectives
  • Develop business performance modelling, sensitivity analysis, as required, on monthly forecasts, quarterly outlooks and budget
  • Developing initiatives, policies and automated reporting/forecasting tools that may improve financial growth and increase productivity
  • Support complex ad hoc analysis and benchmarking as required e.g. price, volume, upstream/downstream contribution, costs, profitability, transfer pricing, SG&A allocation
  • Work closely with finance colleagues and Materials business unit to provide financial support where required, and ensure consistency and integrity of information
  • Oversee the National Support Overhead reporting and forecast/budget reviews
  • Ad hoc analysis and financial performance reviews as required.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience of identifying opportunities, negotiating solutions and promoting effective decision making

Finance Background and experience

Proven financial management experience in an analytical or decision support role

Proficiency withOffice365 specifically MS Excel

Familiarity with data query/data management tools is beneficial (Access, SQL, Business Objects)

Ability to work in a challenging matrix environment

Well-developed communication skills

Able to identify and drive process change and improvement
