We are currently recruiting for a Lead Multi Skilled Operative to join and lead our fantastic ‘Phase 2’ Backshift team at our Mountsorrel Quarry, in Quorn, near to Loughborough in Leicestershire.  This role is commutable from Quorn, Loughborough, Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Coalville, Shepshed, Syston, Glenfield, Ibstock, Sileby, Kegworth, Nottingham, Derby, Grantham, Matlock, Tunstead, Derby, Dene, Ashbourne, Oakham, Bardon Hill and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

The Lead Multi Skilled Operative will report to the ‘Phase 2’ Supervisor and will lead the operations of this phase in our plant whilst on your assigned shift. Safety and operational standards are the fundamentals of the role; with additionally supporting cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs and performance improvement. Driving the management of plant compliance with our business policies and procedures and ensuring that legislative compliance is also a strong aspect of the role.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities of the Lead Multi Skilled Operative, not exhaustive:

• Lead the Phase 2 Backshift operational team under your reporting line
• Delivery of toolbox talks
• Manage shift production in support of the Phase Supervisor and Manager
• Drive operational performance through KPI’s
• Timely resolution of queries assigned to the sector
• Take responsibility for their own safety and that of colleagues and business partners
• Promote and maintain site housekeeping to a high standard
• Monitor the production of product to meet customer needs whilst meeting internal quality requirements

Key Stakeholders you will liaise with in the responsibilities of this role:

Business Unit Manager - Health & Safety team - Procurement and support teams - National Logistics team - Area Operations teams - Area Commercial teams - Area HR Manager - Industry Bodies - Customers

The position is a role working Backshift Monday to Thursday 15:00 – 01:30 and Friday 12:00 – 20:30 with the ideal candidate providing flexibility and occasional weekend working to meet with the plant’s production needs

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role the ideal candidate for the position of Lead Multi Skilled Operative you will have experience and knowledge of:

ESSENTIAL Experience

• Experience in Quarry operations
• Knowledge of Quarry regulations
• Previous experience of a Hard Rock Quarry environment – would prove highly beneficial
• Knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems
• Working knowledge of production processes
• Working knowledge of H&S and Environmental policies

DESIRABLE Qualifications – not essential

• IOSH Managing Safely
• NVQ in fixed and mobile plant operations

Skills

• Able to actively identify and proactively support implementation of site and process improvements
• Able to look for opportunities to identify customer needs
