We are looking to recruit a Multi Skilled Operative to join our fantastic team at the Tarmac Tilbury Wharf site in East London. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the site. Your primary responsibilities will include securing ships in dock, working at height on conveyors above the ships and over water, and operating mobile plant equipment. You’ll work closely with the team to follow the site plan, ensuring that stock levels are maintained and replenished efficiently.
Main Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities as the Multi Skilled Operative will include (not exhaustive):
- Securing Tarmac’s Ships in dock
- Working at height on the conveyors across the ships and across water
- Operating Mobile Plant on site
- Working with other members of the team to ensure that customers get good quality material and on-time deliveries
- Assisting the Supervisor with meeting daily/weekly production targets
- Follow SHE policies and procedures
- Ensure Plant both fixed and mobile, conforms with safety requirements at all times
- Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality responsibilities
- Inspections on the plant and acting on defects and implement remedial action
- Ensuring that plant availability is maximised
- Working to keep housekeeping around site to a high standard
Previous experience working in a Marine / Maritime / Dock / Asphalt / RMX / Plant / Quarry / Industrial Manufacturing environment would prove highly beneficial; but this is not essential as training will be given to the right candidate but you must be comfortable working at height and around water.
The role requires a degree of flexibility to meet with the sites production requirements with overtime available
The Ideal Candidate
To succeed in the role of Multi Skilled Operative the following is what we are looking for in a future colleague:
- Knowledge and experience of working with Ships / Vessels
- Knowledge and experience of Plant operations – both mobile and fixed plant
- Confident working at height and working near water
- Good Timekeeping – flexible as to the site requirements
- Good Communication skills – bringing problems to the attention of Line Management
The role is based in our Tarmac Tilbury Wharf site in East London. The plant is easily accessible via most major networks, whether this is by road or public transport. This role is commutable from locations such as Gravesend, Northfleet, Dartford, Grays, Canvey Island, Basildon, Romford, Dagenham, Bexleyheath, Belevedere, Southend-on-Sea, Brentwood and the surrounding areas.
