The Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven National Sales Manager (Wastewater) to lead our UK sales strategy across the wastewater market.
This is a senior, high‑impact role with responsibility for delivering sustainable growth, strengthening strategic customer partnerships and representing the business at both commercial and operational levels.
You will lead solution‑based sales of wastewater capital equipment, spares and service offerings, while contributing to wider business strategy as a member of the senior management team. The role requires national travel and close collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Proposals and Capital Delivery teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
As National Sales Manager, you will:
- Develop, implement and deliver a national sales strategy to exceed revenue and margin targets
- Drive solution‑based sales across capital equipment, spares and service offerings
- Manage the full sales lifecycle, from lead generation and needs assessment through trials, quotation, negotiation and close
- Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with key municipal, industrial and strategic customers
- Act as a senior commercial contact, representing Hydro at strategic, operational and executive levels
- Work closely with Proposals, Capital Delivery and internal support teams to ensure seamless project execution
- Accurately manage pipeline, forecasting and account activity using Microsoft CRM
- Prepare and deliver customer pitches, technical presentations and commercial proposals
- Attend and represent Hydro at industry events, exhibitions, trade shows and targeted marketing campaigns
- Capture and share market intelligence, customer feedback and competitor insight to influence business strategy and future offerings
- Ensure all sales activity complies with BS EN ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards
- Take ownership of Health, Safety and Environmental performance within your remit
- Contribute to senior management discussions, providing commercial insight and leadership input
About You
Industry & Commercial Experience
- Significant sales experience within the UK Water & Wastewater industry
- Strong background in solution selling, including capital equipment, spares and service contracts
- Solid understanding of UK market structure and key municipal and industrial customers
- Proven ability to build and maintain long‑term, value‑based customer relationships
Sales & Leadership Capability
- Demonstrated track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets
- Highly self‑motivated, commercially astute and comfortable working autonomously
- Strong negotiation, pipeline management and closing skills
- Experience contributing at senior leadership level
Technical & Systems Skills
- Proficient in ERP and CRM systems for account management and forecasting
- Understanding of commercial and contractual frameworks (NEC3 / NEC4 desirable)
Communication & Relationship Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Confident presenting to technical, commercial and executive stakeholders
- Collaborative, professional and relationship‑focused approach
